Memoranda of understanding
The Sydney Water Catchment Management Act 1998 requires the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) to enter into memoranda of understanding with NSW Health and the Environment Protection Authority.
The memoranda of understanding are set up for the parties to:
- establish cooperative relationships
- develop consultative processes to consider operational, strategic, and public health and environmental issues
- exchange data and information
- resolve disputes.
Memorandum of Understanding with NSW Health
The memorandum of understanding with NSW Health recognises the role of NSW Health to provide advice to the NSW Government about water quality standards and public health.
Memorandum of Understanding with the Environment Protection Authority
The memorandum of understanding with the Environment Protection Authority recognises the role of that agency in protecting the environment of NSW.
Through the memorandum of understanding, the SCA and the Environment Protection Authority share information and research results, coordinate monitoring activity, and share a joint strategy to tackle pollution problems in the catchments.
