Water management licence
The Sydney Catchment Authority's (SCA) water management licence manages the SCA's access to water resources in its area of operations.
The licence was granted in 2001, under the Water Act 1912, by the Water Administration Ministerial Corporation (currently the Department of Water and Energy). The licence is for 20 years, but it must be reviewed before the end of each five-year period throughout its term.
The licence authorises the SCA to take and use water from water sources and water management works specified in the licence. It also specifies the amount of water that the SCA must make available for environmental flows.
The licence requires the SCA to pay a licence fee for water management charges and for costs incurred by the Ministerial Corporation to administer the licence.
