The SCA manages and protects a network of dams where visitors are welcome. These dams are an easy drive from Sydney and offer ideal locations for picnics and sightseeing.

The dams are set in natural bushland, and many dams also have facilities such as picnic shelters, shade trees, barbecues, gardens, viewing areas and children's playgrounds. Where possible, there are facilities for the disabled, including access to vantage points, toilets and shelter sheds.

There are no entry fees to any of our dams. Picnic areas cannot be reserved.

No pets or fires are permitted in SCA grounds, see Visitor do's and don'ts.

To help the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) manage its picnic and camping facilities please notify us in advance if you have a group of more than 50 people visiting any of our sites. You can do this using the large group notification form.

Reopening of Warragamba Dam Grounds

Warragamba Dam Grounds reopened to the public on Sunday 8 November 2009. The grounds have upgraded visitor facilities and new viewing platforms to give visitors the best available views of the dam wall and Lake Burragorang. The dam wall remains closed due to ongoing works on the flood gates.
