AQUA: A Journey into the World of Water

The Sydney Catchment Authority is the proud principal partner of AQUA – A Journey into the World of Water.

AQUA is a multisensory experience for the whole family. Discover the story of water and its importance in our lives as you are taken through a journey of water installations and visual effects . Be immersed in an adventure around the world, in which you are both participant and spectator, surrounded by 360º screen projections. And be inspired by the visual spectacle of AQUA to make a pledge to save water for the planet.

AQUA is a 30-minute timed show with Australian National Maritime Museum guides to take you through this unique experience created by ONE DROP, an initiative of Guy LailbertÉ, Founder of Cirque de Soleil ®.

ONE DROP. TAKING WATER FURTHER.

ONE DROP fights poverty worldwide by supporting access to water and raising awareness of water-related issues. Nearly one billion people do not have access to safe drinking water. To learn more, visit ONEDROP.org

H2O 2U

As a prelude to AQUA the Sydney Catchment Authority has created the H2O 2U room at the Australian National Maritime Museum featuring local content about Sydney’s own water story.

Discover which of our dams was designed with Tutankhamen’s tomb in mind and which one is the thinnest in the world. Find out how many Sydney Harbours could fit inside of Warragamba Dam and which dams where protected by torpedo nets during World War II.

There are fun, hands-on activities for kids including an activity book to complete at the exhibition. Visitors who later come out to Warragamba Dam have the chance to win a guided helicopter flight for four people over some of Sydney’s dams and catchments. More information about terms and conditions of the competition is available here.

Water For Life exhibition

Continue your water explorations in depth at the Warragamba Dam Visitor Centre. The State-of-the-Art Water For Life exhibition features ‘Drops of Wisdom’ – the largest interactive multimedia touch table of its type in Australia. Discover the amazing history, science and people of Warragamba Dam and Greater Sydney’s water supply system.

Enjoy panoramic views of the dam, spillway and Lake Burragorang from our viewing platforms. Explore the history of the dam and its builders on our self-guided tour of heritage and interpretive displays around the spacious grounds and sheltered picnic areas.
