Take advantage of new picnic facilities at Warragamba Dam this Mother's Day - Minister Phillip Costa MP - 9 May 2010
Minister for Water Phil Costa encouraged families to take advantage of the new picnic facilities at Warragamba Dam this Mother’s Day.
“Mother’s Day is a great excuse to get the family out of the house to enjoy the great weather we have been experiencing, and we have fantastic new facilities at Warragamba Dam for families to take advantage of,” Minister Costa said.
“As well as new, sheltered picnic areas, we have also installed new viewing platforms that offer visitors panoramic vistas of the iconic dam and surrounds.
“Families have been flocking to Warragamba Dam since it was built 50 years ago and it is fast regaining its position as one of Western Sydney’s most popular tourist attractions
“Thousands of people visited the dam in the first few days alone after it was re-opened to the public late last year following a $240 million upgrade to improve the reliability of our water supply and upgrade the dam’s operations and safety features.”
Warragamba Dam is open 8am-5pm seven days a week. Due to continuing construction on the dam walls, access to the dam walls remains closed.
