Sydney Catchment Authority Annual Water Quality Monitoring Report 2007-08

This report describes the results of water quality monitoring undertaken by the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) during 2007–08, in accordance with clause 3.6 of the operating licence. As well as meeting the SCA’s statutory obligations, the report aims to provide stakeholders, students, researchers and other members of the community with information water about quality.
More specifically, this report aims to:
- detail how the system has performed relative to water quality criteria at each location
- map water quality in catchments, reservoirs and delivery systems
- interpret the results of the collected water quality data
- report on targeted studies
- report on measures planned or taken to manage water quality incidents.
The 2007–08 report is presented in nine sections:
- Introduction - explains why the SCA needs to monitor and report on water quality
- Overview of the water supply network - describes Sydney’s water catchments and supply networks
- The Water Quality Monitoring Program - describes the water quality monitoring undertaken by the SCA
- Raw water quality of water filtration plant inflow - details how the raw water supplied for treatment has performed relative to the standards required under bulk water supply agreements and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines
- Water quality monitoring in the catchment - describes water quality in the SCA’s catchments
- Water quality in reservoirs - describes water quality in the SCA’s water storages
- Monitoring for operations, planning and research - describes the results of monitoring carried out by the SCA for operational and planning purposes
- Monitoring of streamflows, releases and water temperature - describes the SCA’s monitoring of streamflows and water released downstream of storages
- Incidents and exceptions - describes incidents and exceptions and the SCA's responses.
