Development in Sydney's Drinking Water Catchment – Water Quality Information Requirements
All development applications in the drinking water catchment must include a water cycle management study (WCMS) to help council and the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) assess whether the development will have a neutral or beneficial effect on water quality. The document 'Development in Sydney’s Drinking Water Catchment – Water Quality Information Requirements' below describes the different reports and modelling you need to include with a development application, and how they vary for different types and scales of development.
The document ‘Using a Consultant to Prepare Your Water Cycle Management Study’ explains the development application process in relation to the WCMS requirements, as well as information on using and choosing a consultant to help you prepare your WCMS.
NB: References are made in 'Development in Sydney’s Drinking Water Catchment – Water Quality Information Requirements’ to a number of documents that are currently being finalised and are not yet publicly available. These documents include the ‘Designing and Installing On Site Wastewater Systems' and the ‘Guide to the Use of MUSIC in the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment’. If a particular document is currently not available please contact the SCA’s Planning and Assessment Team at info@sca.nsw.gov.au or on 1300 722 468 to discuss alternative information requirements.
