Dam Locations
Warragamba Dam and Burragorang Lookout
Warragamba Dam is located on the Warragamba River about 65 kilometres west of Sydney
- Take Mulgoa Rd from Penrith (or Northern and Park Roads from the south) to Wallacia, then Silverdale Road and Farnsworth Avenue to Warragamba.
Burragong Lookout is located near Nattai in Sydney's southwest
- From Camden, take Druitt Lane (which turns into Burragong Road), to Nattai and continue to the lookout. From Picton, take Barkers Lodge Road to Oakdale, then west to Nattai.
Prospect Reservoir
- Travelling west on the M4, take the Prospect Highway exit. Turn left at the roundabout, and right at the T-intersection. The entrance to Prospect Reservoir is the second turn to the left.
- If travelling east on the M4, take the Reservoir Road exit. Turn right onto Reservoir Road. The entrance is approximately two kilometres on the right.
Upper Nepean Dams
Cataract Dam is located about 84 kilometres drive south-west of Sydney, off the Appin-Bulli Road
- From Sydney take the Hume Highway [F5] to the Campbelltown exit and follow the Appin Road south. At Appin, take the Bulli-Wollongong road, and turn right to Cataract Dam where signposted.
Cordeaux Dam is located about 94 kilometres drive from Sydney
- From Sydney take the Hume Highway [F5] towards Canberra. Past Campbelltown, take the Wollongong/Picton turnoff. The Cordeaux Dam entrance is about ten minutes on the right, and is signposted.
Avon and Nepean Dams are situated approximately 100 kilometres drive from Sydney
- Follow the Hume Highway [F5] south from Sydney and take the Bargo exit to Avon and Nepean dams.
Woronora Dam
Woronora Dam is located south of Sydney, near Waterfall
- Access is via the old Princess Highway, south from Sydney or North from Wollongong. Turn off the Princess Highway onto the Woronora Dam access road just south of Waterfall.
Shoalhaven Dams
Tallowa Dam and Bendeela Picnic Area are situated on the Shoalhaven River near Kangaroo Valley, about 200 kilometres south of Sydney
- From Sydney, follow the Hume Highway [F5] south towards Goulburn and take the Mittagong to Bowral turnoff. Take Nowra Road towards Kangaroo Valley.
- Turn right at Kangaroo Valley Just before Hampden Bridge to Bendeela Picnic Area. For Tallowa Dam, continue across Hampden Bridge and turn right.
Fitzroy Falls Reservoir is located about 160 kilometres south-west of Sydney, near Moss Vale
- From Sydney, head south along the Hume Highway [F5] south towards Goulburn, and take the Mittagong to Bowral turnoff. At Bowral take the Nowra Road towards Kangaroo Valley. Fitzroy Falls Reservoir is located on the eastern side of the road, and is signposted.
