Prospect Reservoir is located on Prospect Creek, approximately 35 kilometres west of Sydney.

The nearby picnic areas at Prospect Reservoir are owned and managed by Sydney Water. The facilities at these grounds include:

  • Playground
  • Toilets
  • Viewing area

Opening hours

  • 7am to 4.30pm
  • 6am to 6.30pm (on weekends and public holidays during daylight saving)
  • The picnic area is open every day of the year
  • Please note: There is no entry to the dam 15 minutes prior to closing time. Access to some SCA areas may be restricted from time-to-time due to construction or operational activity, or for environmental reasons

How to get there

Travelling west on the M4:

  • Take the Prospect Highway exit
  • Turn left at the roundabout, and right at the T-intersection
  • The entrance to Prospect Reservoir is the second turn to the left.

If travelling east on the M4:

  • Take the Reservoir Road exit
  • Turn right onto Reservoir Road
  • The entrance is approximately two kilometres on the right
