Tallowa Dam
Tallowa Dam is situated on the Shoalhaven River near Kangaroo Valley, about 200 kilometres south of Sydney. Bendeela Picnic Area is located nearby.
Please note that the Tallowa Dam Fishlift is temporarily closed for operational adjustments. It will be back in operation at the end of November 2009. The dam and picnic area are still open.
The facilities at the dam include:
- Picnic tables
- Electric barbecues
- Toilets/disabled toilets
- Untreated water
- Viewing area
- Limited public parking
Note: Fishing, swimming and non-powered boating are permitted at Tallowa Dam and Bendeela Picnic Area.
Opening hours
- Open 24 hours a day, every day of the year
- Please note: Access to some SCA areas may be restricted from time-to-time due to construction or operational activity, or for environmental reasons
How to get there
From Sydney, follow the Hume Highway [F5] south towards Goulburn and take the Mittagong to Bowral turnoff. Take Nowra Road towards Kangaroo Valley. Continue across Hampden Bridge in Kangaroo Valley, and turn right onto Mt Scanzi Road. Follow the road straight down to the dam.
