Research partnerships
Most SCA research work is specific to our particular catchments. However, many of the SCA's knowledge needs are generic and shared by organisations with similar responsibilities. The SCA has joined several co-operative research organisations that undertake generic research to fill these gaps. Specifically:
- Cooperative Research Centre for Water Quality and Treatment
The SCA is a Board Member and leads the catchment research program within this CRC. Current research includes studies of the fate and transport of pathogenic microorganisms in catchments as well as epidemiological studies on the effects of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) on human health. - American Water Works Association Research Foundation
The SCA is a member of the world's largest drinking water research organisation, sharing the latest developments in water quality management and health. Current research includes a major study of the fate and transport of pathogens in catchments, in which the SCA is a participating utility. - Water Services Association of Australia
The SCA is a Board Member of this organisation, which undertakes research on behalf of the national water industry.
From time to time, the SCA offers collaborative research opportunities to support Honours, MSc or PhD students, as well as Research Officers or Fellows. It is anticipated that these research opportunities will lead to longer-term collaborative funding applications through schemes such as those managed by the Australian Research Council.
