Science data and information quality program


The Science data and information quality program aims to ensure science data is accurate and reliable with appropriate quality assurance and quality compliance, and information is easily shared internally and externally.

Key projects are:

  • Experimental designs for monitoring and assessment
  • Science data quality management and accessibility.

The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) conducts Water Monitoring at more than 100 sites in rivers, water bodies and groundwater throughout the catchments, in the water storages themselves and at the entry to water filtration plants. The SCA has access to data collected before its creation in 1999, and continues to collect additional water data which is standardised and integrated into the water monitoring database. The SCA applies a range of analytical procedures to ensure this raw data is translated into credible and useful information for catchment and reservoir management purposes.
