Sewage and stormwater
The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) aims to minimise any negative impact of sewage and stormwater on water quality in Sydney’s drinking water catchment.
There are 14 licensed sewerage systems and approximately 15,000 on-site wastewater treatment systems in the drinking water catchment. This initiative aims to minimise the impact of sewage and stormwater, including the risk of disease from microbial pathogens, and algal blooms due to high nitrogen and phosphorus levels.
The SCA will address the following priority issues for sewage and stormwater in the catchments:
